PDF's
Standard web pages/html documents are subject to a variety of forces that can change how they look, irrespective of how they were intended to look. That very inability to exercise 100% control also allows web information to be accessed by people under a wide variety of circumstances - but there are times when presentation is of supreme importance (such as when someone asks you to send them a copy of your brochure via the web). That's where PDF (portable document format) comes in.
We use a program called Adobe Acrobat to convert documents to the PDF format. PDF's are "cross-platform" meaning they can be viewed on and printed from both PC and Macintosh computers. To view PDF documents you must have Acrobat Reader on your computer.
Acrobat Reader is shipped with most new computers nowadays, but if you don't have it, you can get it for free from Adobe's website.
